    Nathaniel has worked in the private tuition field for 20 years. He graduated from Durham University with a degree in Archaeology and completed an MFA at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

    He has worked with children of a wide range of ages and abilities, from Eton scholars to children facing challenges such as dyspraxia and Aspergers syndrome. He believes passionately in the effectiveness of carefully managed one-to-one tuition. Nathaniel spends his time consulting with clients, visiting schools, and working with head teachers and other educationalists in the UK and overseas. He also sits on the Tutors Association panel for Continuing Professional Development and is a key supporter of the development of enhanced standards in private tuition.

    Sophie joined SLT in 2014 and is responsible for the smooth running of our busy tutor introduction service.

    Sophie Taylor Barthorpe has been working for Simply Learning Tuition since early 2014. Before joining she graduated with an English Literature degree then completed a Masters in Arts and Heritage Management.

    Sophie comes from a family of educationalists: her mother ran the nursery at the Household Cavalry and has been an Ofsted schools inspector. Her father lectured in Art and Photography. Throughout her education Sophie was supported by private tutors, and she appreciates how effective tuition can be for results, confidence and wellbeing. She decided to join Simply Learning Tuition to help others get the same benefit – working as Tuition Manager to make sure all our clients find the most appropriate tutor for their requirements.

    After many happy years at Marlborough College, Emma graduated with a First Class degree in Archaeology from Newcastle University. Emma developed a passion for education during her time as a volunteer teacher at Zou Lou Lan primary school in Shanghai. After gaining further volunteer experience, Emma’s interest in education led her to join Simply Learning Tuition. In her job as Tuition Consultant, Emma co-ordinates the introduction of tutor to client.

    Irina is one of the UK's leading Schools Placements Consultants. She specialises in introducing tutors and finding prestigious schools for Russian families.

    A Russian native, Irina has been living in London since 1983. Education has always been close to her heart; she initially taught Russian at St Paul’s Girls’ School and then lectured at the University of Westminster. Irina is also a seasoned journalist; having worked for over a decade as a producer for the BBC. Irina is often quoted in the national and international press, including the Guardian and the Financial Times.

    With her extensive experience of the British education system, and with two children currently at independent schools, clients from Moscow and St. Petersbug have often asked Irina’s advice about how to enter their children into prestigious English schools. On their behalf, Irina has successfully placed dozens of children in the school that was right for them. She regularly visits schools and has established excellent relationships with their administration departments.

    Kathryn graduated from Trinity College Dublin with an honours degree in English and French. She worked in London for ten years before having three children (two boys and a girl), all now at various stages in independent boarding schools in London and Scotland.

    As a parent Kathryn has a wide range of valuable first-hand experience – from the admissions process and tutor selection to getting children over examination hurdles including Common Entrance. She has a deep understanding of the Sports Scholarship and ‘Waiting List’ processes at two leading Independent schools, together with an extensive knowledge of independent boarding schools around the UK and a PGCE secondary level qualification.

    Katie joined Simply Learning Tuition in 2011 and is an experienced pre-school, SEN and 11+ tutor. As well as providing detailed educational consultancy, Katie manages our Home Schooling and Residential Tuition programmes.

    She is usually found in the office interviewing tutors and speaking with clients, but also travels around the world to meet our clients. Katie was educated at the British School in the Netherlands, before relocating back to the UK to read Psychology and Philosophy at the University of Manchester and later at the University of Melbourne. She joined Simply Learning Tuition after managing a tuition centre in Surrey for 5 years and understands first hand the amazing impact tuition can have on a child’s confidence and drive to succeed.

This, along with her experience as an assistant teacher in an independent school, enables her to effectively assess children from 3 to 13 years – and advise parents and teachers accordingly.

    Erin’s knowledge of both the independent and state education systems mean she is able to assess how a child is performing academically for their age and also in comparison to their peers and educational requirements.     Eleanor has been teaching for over twenty years and is unusual in that alongside working for us, she regularly teaches in one of London’s leading state primary schools. Having been a form teacher of fifteen classes, she also has substantial experience supply teaching from Nursery to Year 6. In addition she has tutored children from leading Pre-Preps and Prep Schools such as Hawkesdown House and Garden House. This gives her an extensive knowledge of the entire UK primary curriculum and she is therefore superbly placed to make accurate assessments on children: both where they are now, and what are the next steps. Eleanor passionately believes in matching the right school to the right child, and is well positioned to help and support parents when making educational decisions for their child.

    Eleanor boarded at St Mary’s School, Ascot and then attended Roehampton Institute, where she graduated with a teacher training degree (BA Hons in English with Qualified Teacher Status); she wanted to be a teacher from a young age.  After beginning her teaching career in London, she has since taught abroad in both urban and rural schools (Chile, Mexico, Nicaragua) and understands the needs of children entering the UK system with English as an additional language. In addition, from her extensive experience when teaching children new to Britain, she is able to assess and then identify the areas a child needs to develop to ensure they have a smooth and successful transition from international to British curriculum study.
