Children sometimes need help to find the right path. Stressed and unhappy children may resort to destructive behaviour that harms them and the people who love them. Their inability to make or commit to decisions can lead to absence from school, running away, bullying or more damaging behaviour including self-harm and addiction.
Our intense mentorship course helps children overcome their fears and growing pains and points them in a new direction. Our mentors will show them an alternative way: building self-worth to rediscover happiness and prevent further withdrawal from family, friends and school.
Mentoring is provided by a small number of particularly mature and experienced senior tutors working closely with child psychologists, therapists and doctors. The mentor will be at by your child's side throughout the course, making it as easy as possible for the child to progress. The relationship between child and mentor is unique in every case and is bound by complete confidentiality between them.
Success relies on building trust between child and mentor so that a confident and secure relationship can develop. We start with the basics - a healthy schedule including exercise, sufficient sleep and tailored academics. As the mentor begins to understand the child's issues in more depth a plan will be established to set long term goals and short-term strategies to reach them.
As the child gains the confidence to take responsibility for himself and he becomes increasingly independent, the relationship with his mentor will come to a natural end. Regular observation and follow up will be maintained to ensure that the child is still making progress. This is often marked by a return to school, or taking on an A-Level or a degree course, returning to the original plan that had seemed impossible before our intervention.
